I took a deep breath as I got off the number 67 bus at the Nike World Campus. I was more excited than nervous, more curious than intimidated and more determined than ever. I walked through the beautiful campus looking for the Mia Hamm building. Several twists and turns later I arrived at the lobby where 9 other young people were standing looking at the floor, the ceiling, and twiddling their thumbs creating an awkward atmosphere. A man who identified himself as Jason Ahman asked how our weekend was, and no one hesitated to give a confident answer. Right then and there I knew this group was going to be an interesting group.

We were assigned to the Borussia room, which was a room unique in its own way.  First project was assigned and we were split into two teams, boys and girls. The project was to create a board to express what inspires us, what our goals are, and who we are overall in our generation. Of course naturally we each had our own ideas and opinions about what we wanted to illustrate for our project and the ideas clashed. It wasn’t until the afternoon of the presentation that we finally agreed to a concept. But man was it a great concept. We built a girls room, reflecting all of our styles from our past, present and future.  Which was our theme of the project, and really the over all theme of the Wildcards. Our generation has so much access to trends, music and history from the past through technology. We all use it to our advantage. I enjoyed spending time with everyone and building a connection. Both projects [boys and girls] were awe inspiring, so much creativity from a group of ten totally different people. The projects reflected that not only can we work together, discuss issues together, but most importantly we can laugh together. And after the presentations were done, we spent the rest of the afternoon doing just that. I’m looking forward to seeing where we all go in the future.
